A young football team have wrapped up another tasty sponsorship boost.
Ballycastle Utd U-18s have offered their thanks to John Morton, of Morton’s Traditional Fish And Chips, after he presented them with a cheque for £300.
The generous donation follows the £300 that Morton’s, the shirt sponsors, gave the team last year and will be used to pay costly travel expenses.
The money is absolutely vital as the team now competes in the U18 South Belfast Youth league.
There are no local leagues and all the side’s home matches are in Belfast.
The young boys have to travel as far as Carryduff, Bangor and Comber for some of their away games and this has major cost implications.
The team survives on the support of local people and businesses such as Morton’s and it is fully appreciated by club members.
After a slow start the team is now beginning to go from strength to strength with a win over Carryduff and draws against Comber and Cregagh.
With the continued support of the local community the committee of Ballycastle Utd FC is working hard to ensure that the young footballers in the town are given the opportunity to compete amongst their peers and to enjoy the experience of playing in the Belfast league.
