Riada hit five past Garvagh in a thrilling encounter on Saturday.

Garvagh started well and looked dangerous early on, McGaughey in the Riada goal making a couple of early saves.

McAleese then hit the crossbar for Riada before firing them in front.

Some good link up play between McCook and Christie resulted in McAleese slotting home this left the Ballymoney side 1-0 in front at the break.

Riada doubled their advantage early in the second period when McAleese blocked an attempted clearance from the Garvagh keeper, the ball then rebounded into the empty net.

Gillen then made it 3-0 with a low volley from the edge of the box, which found its way under the keeper and into the net.

By this stage Riada were well on top. The fourth goal came thanks to McAleese again. Graur’s lob bounced off the post and McAleese was on hand to complete his hattrick.

Gillen made it 5-0 when he finished off a McCook cross.

With the game well over, Christie should have made it 6-0, however he found the woodwork three times in the closing stages as Riada seeked more goals.

Garvagh nearly got on the scoresheet at the end themselves also hitting the woodwork.
