Dunloy knocked out of cup

NEWTOWNE 3 DUNLOY 1

MATCHES are usually won by the team who makes the best use of the chances created and this game certainly lived up to that with Newtowne more efficient in this than Dunloy who are usually sharp around the goals.

In the McReynolds Cup First Round in the Ballymena and Provincial Football League, sponsored by Michelin Athletic Club, Newtowne went in front after Gary Moore scored on the 10th minute then doubled their lead after Michael Walsh scored on the 32nd minute.

Half-time saw Newtowne still in front by two and though chances were there to be taken by both teams no more goals were scored until Ryan Logue scored a third for Newtowne on the 80th minute.

Dunloy never gave up but when Shane Dooey scored on the 90th minute Newtowne had the tie won progressing to the next round. Referee Mr. Gary Curran.

ANTRIM ROVERS 2 BALLYMONEY UTD RES 1

In Junior One, Antrim had the best of the opening attacking play and went in front after Kenny Lutton scored on the 20th minute.

Ballymoney got back on level terms on the 37th minute with a well worked goal sending the teams in level at the break. The second half saw little to choose between the teams except for the goal scored by Darren Brammeld on the 70th minute which won the game for the Rovers. Referee Mr. Russell Kennedy.

DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS 2 GLEBE RANGERS RES 2

Glebe showed good improved form in this game against the Swifts who have been in good from all season.

Glebe took the lead on the 20th minute through a well taken goal scored by Neil McVicker this goal separating the teams until Liam Stewart converted a penalty for the Swifts on the 40th minute to level the scores.

The second half saw lots of good football played then on the 70th minute Liam Stewart scored his second goal in the game putting the Swifts in front.

Glebe came back strong after this getting a deserved equaliser when Gary Nicholl scored on the 80th minute result which was fair to both teams. Referee Mr. David Trainor.
