DALRIADA SCHOOL 1

LORETO COLLEGE 2

Coleraine Showground’s was the idyllic setting for the final of the Coleraine and District Schools league final of the U12 section, between Dalriada and Loreto College Coleraine.

Dalriada put up an excellent performance only to lose out by the narrowest of margins, going down by two goals to one.

Caleb Moore had given the Ballymoney boys a well deserved lead mid way through the first half and could have went on to increase their lead but for an excellent display by the Loreto goalkeeper.

The Coleraine team levelled the game on 50 minutes and then went in front with a well worked goal 10 minutes from the end.

Dalriada piled on the pressure, only to be denied by some resolute defending and once again some fine goalkeeping.

Aaron Fleming won the man of the match award for his energetic display. Another group of players that caught the eye for Dalriada were Captain Billy Dougan, Lewis Nevin and Stuart Wallace.

Although hugely disappointing for the team, the players had an excellent experience in their first cup final for the school.

Much credit must go to Coleraine FC chairman, Mr Colin McKendry for the use of the superb facilities and indeed for coming along to present the trophies at the end of the game.

Many thanks to O’Neill’s Sportswear for sponsoring the brand new playing kit for the team, in association with “The Alcohol Trial (STAMPP)” which is run by the Liverpool John Moore’s University and Dr Michael McKay.
