Carnlough are too Swift for Finvoy

BALLYMENA and PROVINCIAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE Sponsored by MICHELIN ATHLETIC CLUB SEASON 2011-12

Brantwood moved into second spot in the Intermediate Table after a good away win over FC Ballynure on Saturday which has set up the title run-in between Newtowne, Brantwood and Raceview to fight it out for the title. Newtowne at present are in pole position but there could be some changes before the tile is won or lost.

In Junior Division One it appears to be Killymoon Rangers Res and Ballymoney United Reserves that will fight it out for the title and in Division Two Cookstown Olympic and 3rd Ballyclare Old Boys are in a similar position.

Junior Division Three it appears to be a bit clearer with 1st Mossley in a strong position.

INTERMEDIATE DIVISION LEAGUE

CARNINY AMATEURS 3 CLOUGH RANGERS ATH 1

Carniny got off to a good start in this game taking the lead after Gordy Dillon scored on the 15th minute only then to concede an own goal on the 20th minute putting the teams back on level terms. Carniny continued to set the pace of the game and as half-time was approaching Dean Magill shot Carniny back in front on the 39th minute. The second half saw Clough have to chase the game and though there were a few chances created the only goal in the half was scored by Dean Magill on the 81st minute to secure the win for Carniny. Referee Mr. Hugh McElwee

KILBRIDE SWIFTS 2 DUNLOY 0

This win saw Kilbride complete the league double over Dunloy who were well in the game during the first-half which remained scoreless at the break. Kilbride got the crucial first goal when Ryan Caskey scored on the 47th minute and this then saw Dunloy have to chase the game. Kilbride held firm and were dangerous themselves on the break which was seen to good effect when Andy McLeod nipped in to score their second goal and seal the win. Referee Mr. Gary Gallagher

CRAWFORD CUP ROUND 2

RASHARKIN UNITED 6 MOYOLA PARK OLYMPIC 2

Rasharkin took the lead after Ryan Boyd scored on the 14th minute and then a hat-trick of goals scored by Andy Calderwood on the 20th, 22nd and 33rd minutes saw Rasharkin in a strong position. Steven Bigger then made it five nil for Rasharkin on the 37th minute before Ross McKee pulled a goal back for Moyola on the 39th minute. Rasharkin got goal number six when Ryan Craig scored on the 57th minute which saw the goals dry up until Steven Dooey scored a second for Moyola on the 85th minute.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

LARNE OLYMPIC 0 BALLYMONEY UTD RES 1

This was a cracking game between two evenly matched teams who never let the pace of the game slacken during the entire ninety minutes. Chances had been created at both ends before Conor Reid scored to put Ballymoney into the lead on the 20th minute. After this chances came and went and both keepers were kept busy but at the end the single goal decided the result.

Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

DIVISION TWO

CARNLOUGH SWIFTS 5 FINVOY 0

Carnlough took the lead in this game after Niall McAllister scored on the 10th minute then added a second when Seamus Lee headed in from a corner on the 15th minute. Finvoy tried hard to get back into the game but fell further behind after Conal Thompson scored a third for Carnlough on the 30th minute. Half-time was approaching when Darren McAllister headed in from a corner putting Carnlough four in front at the break. Finvoy never gave up but after Dion Tsang scored a fifth for Carnlough on the 70th minute there was no way back of Finvoy. Referee Mr. Samuel Forsythe

Glebe came back in the second half and after Gareth Henry converted a penalty in the 48th minute they were back in with a chance of saving the game. Things improved for Glebe after Andrei Graur scored in the 59th minute but after this Mallusk steadied their defence and ensured the win when Paul Walker scored his second on 65 minutes.
