Ballybogey marched into the Chronicle Cup semi-final with a 5 - 2 victory over Portrush Reserves at the Joey Dunlop Centre on Saturday morning.
It was Portrush who took the lead when the Bogey centre back slipped and let the Portrush striker head the ball into the net. Ballybogey equalised from the penalty spot with Ian Parkhill slotting the ball past the keeper. Ian Parkhill got his second when he ran across the port defence and hammered the ball into the goal. Liam Kearney scored the third after a good run down the right and cut in by the full back and put the ball past the keeper. In the second half Bogey kept the pressure on and got their reward when James McLaughlin caught the keeper of his line and put the ball into the net from 30 yards. Ian Parkhill got his hat trick when he cut in from the left and slotted the ball past the Port keeper. Portrush kept on pressing and got their second with a well worked goal.
However, it is Ballybogey who go through to the semis to play Ballycastle. A good performance by Bogey who next week are back in league action and travel to Roe Valley Reserves where they hope to pick up three more points.
