Coleraine’s hopes of being reinstated to this year’s Irish Cup have been dashed after the IFA ruled Darren Forsyth was eligible for Warrenpoint Town in their fifth round clash.

In a statement released by the Challenge Cup Committee on Thursday they confirmed no further action would be taken.

The statement said: “The Challenge Cup Committee has this week considered the eligibility of Darren Forsyth to participate in the 5th Round Irish Challenge Cup tie for Warrenpoint Town FC against Coleraine FC on Saturday 10th January 2015, following allegations questioning the player’s eligibility.

“Having carried out a thorough investigation and after considering all relevant rules, which include the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, the IFA Professional Game Player Registration Regulations and the Challenge Cup Competition rules, the committee has determined that Darren Forsyth was eligible to play for Warrenpoint Town and was therefore also eligible to participate in the match against Coleraine FC in the 5th Round of the competition.”
