Ballybogey progressed to last eight of the Steele & Son Shield at the expense of local rivals Dervock.

It was ‘Bogey who went ahead when Gareth Henry scored a really good goal after good play.

Dervock soon equalised and then went 2-1 up and deserved there lead with continuous pressure and good play.

Ballybogey then brought the score level when Gareth Clyde scored a good goal from the edge of the box.

Both teams had chances to score in the rest of the game, but there were no more goals in extra time so the tie had to be decided by penalties.

It was ‘Bogey who went through by scoring all five while Dervock missed one when John Getty saved the fourth spot kick.

This was a really good game of football for the large crowd watching, Dervock the better in the first half and ‘Bogey the better in the second.

Both managers will be pleased the way the two teams played and they have to do it again in the league this Saturday while ‘Bogey go in the hat for the next round to keep alive their hopes of winning the shield.

Coleraine and Distict League side, Ballybogey FC will be hosting a fundraiser for injured player Tommy Elder in the Bush Tavern this Saturday, November 22.

Teams of five are invited to come along for a night of craic. Admission is £3 per person.The quiz will start at 7.30.A disco will follow the quiz.Everyone is welcome to come along.
