Glebe Rangers Old Boys continued their good run of form on Saturday with a convincing win over Hazlebank at Megaw Park.
Glebe Old Boys started strongly and opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Ally newton slotted home after a cross from Elder on the right.
It was 2 nil after five minutes later when Shepherd broke through the offside trap and then slotted past the advancing Hazlebank keeper.
Glebe were well on top by this stage and made it 3 nil when Newton was on target to score again, lashing the ball into the net from a uncleared corner kick.
It was 4 nil to Glebe Old Boys just before halftime when Shepherd headed in a great cross from Elder on the right.
The second half started in much the same way as the first with glebe Old Boys dominating this encounter.
There were further goals from Holmes and two from Ivan Elder which left the Glebe seven goals up.
Shepherd then completed his hat trick to make it 8-0 to Glebe Old Boys. Hazelbank tried throughout, never giving up, however, they were no match for a well organised and determined Glebe Old Boys team.
After the match player/manager Ian Bellingham commented: “I was really pleased with performance of the players. Once again we kept a clean sheet which is pleasing. I have to pay credit to Hazlebank who were playing with a few players missing but never gave up.”
