Dalriada Firsts hold on to win tight encounter

Dalriada travelled to BRA on Saturday morning and they ended up with a 21-15 win.

Dalriada were first to make a breakthrough after a penalty was awarded following a Jack Dowey break. The penalty was kicked to the corner and after a couple phases Angus Johnston slipped through a gap for the opening try which was converted by Stewart Moore. From the kick off winger Ross Fallows made great ground and won a penalty. The kick was again made to the corner and Aaron Christie was bundled over from close range. The kick was again converted by Moore. BRA applied a lot more pressure and their number 5 crashed over for a converted try. The game became a very tight affair until Dalriada’s Thomas Hunter broke from his own 22 to only be held up by a great covering tackle from the BRA 10. Dalriada kept it tight from the following scrum and Jack McMullan made his way over for the third try of the game. The kick was successful. The BRA gained more territory and in the last couple minutes of the half got a penalty to make it 21-10.

The second half saw BRA team attacking in Dalriada’s half. Their scrum half scored off a quick penalty although the conversion was missed. Dalriada had their opportunities in the half but failed to take them. In the last five minutes, the BRA team made a massive effort, led by the two second Rows. Although they came close, Dalriada managed to come out on top of this very tight encounter.
