Dalriada would like to wish Elle Kirgan the very best of luck this weekend as she represents Ulster U 16’s in the Inter provincial tournament this weekend in Dublin.
The school is very proud of Elle’s selection. Also First XI coach Mrs Bridget Cleland is assistant coach of this Ulster side.
Dalriada 3rds played Rainey Endowed at Magherafelt High School. Although Dalriada defended strongly, the final score was 1-0 to Rainey who scored in the second half. Anna Gaston, centre midfield, made strong tackles and set up many opportunities to score, however, Rainey’s defence was extremely powerful which made it a struggle for Dalriada to score. The team would like to thank Lynn McCauley for umpiring.
Dalriada’s under 14s played Rainey and lost 2-0. The team played as best as they could and sweeper Kelsey Glass played very well with great defence. The match started off well for both teams but Rainey’s hits could not be stopped. The team would like to thank Rainey and Dalriada’s u14 coaches and the umpires.
U13A hockey team played at home against Rainey U13 Girls. Despite some good advances and some strong defending, the Dalriada team were overpowered by the extremely strong Rainey team, losing 5-0 by the final whistle. The Dalriada girls played with spirit and determination, particularly the goalkeeper Kathleen Simpson, who made a number of fantastic saves throughout the match.
The U13B’s played against Rainey at Joey Dunlop on the gravel pitches at 9am. Olivia McAleese played excellent on Saturday as goalkeeper and kept out many of the strikes Rainey made!
Erin McMullan also played well as mid-field and made excellent tackles and passes to her team!
The team did not score but played very well, especially on the second half but knew that this was going to be their toughest match yet.The final score was 0-3 to Rainey.
