Battling Blaze ladies enjoy hard fought victory

Ballymoney Blaze’s entertained the Eagles in their second league match of this season.

Blaze began the first set with a decisive victory winning the first set 25-17 thanks to tough serving from Captain Zara Bolton, solid blocking from Ellen Yates and strong hitting Isy Ross on the outside.

In the second set the visitors started out very aggressively and put a lot of pressure on the Ballymoney team, especially with their service and attack. Despite a great effort from the girls they narrowly lost 19-25.

Going into the third set the girls were determined to pull back. Isy Ross put pressure on the Aztecs with her accurate serving, winning the team a total of 7 points. Fighting with all their might Melissa Traynor and Sophie Rollins had some strong hits, but unfortunately they lost the set 20-25.

Blaze started to improve their blocking and hitting and most importantly passing. Milenka Riegelska passed tough serves consecutively to setter Zara Bolton allowing the girls to score point after point taking the lead away from the Aztec girls to come away with a win of 25-20.

It was now or never and Zara Bolton started the set racking up the points. Blaze could do no wrong in this set. Passing, setting and hitting like they had never done before. With smiles on their faces the girls finished the set with a fantastic score of 15-10.
