Ballymoney devices declared ‘viable’

DETECTIVES in Coleraine are appealing for information following a security alert in Dehra Gardens, Ballymoney.

Officers responded to a report of two suspicious devices on the window sill of a house at around 4.50am today (Monday 6 May). Army bomb disposal officers were called to examine the devices.

Garryduff Church Hall was opened for families who had to leave their homes during the operation.

Two controlled explosions were carried out on the devices which were declared viable by the army.

Local residents have been allowed to return to their homes and the Garryduff Road has re-opened to traffic, police said just before 1pm on Monday.
