GRACEHILL Golf Club recently hosted a Charity Golf Tournament with the proceeds going to CHEERS Youth Centre in Ballymoney's Church Street.
The centre which offers a range of services to young people in the town is run by a charitable trust and recently appointed a project worker to develop focussed work with groups of young people. The CHEERS fund raising group led by Stephen Currie were encouraged by the number of local businesses who agreed to sponsor the event.
'We had a great response from the business community who sponsored individual holes' Stephen said, 'Obviously CHEERS is valued by the community and we appreciate the generosity of many local people and businesses. This was the inaugural competition and we look forward to it growing into an important event in the local golfing calendar'
The sponsors were, JT Autos, Biesty's, Hunter Associates, JM Wreath, Mathewson Chemist, RH Gault, Taggart Building Supplies, JMF Fabrication, John Laverty, Flash in the Pan, John Pinkerton Solicitors, Greer, Hamilton, Greery, Murphy Carey Solicitors, Gareth Magee Accountant, Sam Crieth Motors, Raymond Wilson Properties, Thomas Taggart Solicitors McAfee Properties and Brian Moore Motors.
The day of the tournament dawned with beautiful sunshine accompanied by a stiff breeze as local expert and not so expert players teed-off. Given the conditions and the challenging nature of Gracehill Golf Club, the high scores were a credit to all those who participated.
