MANAGER Paul Gaston used this game between Beckett's Under 13s team and Coleraine to make several changes to his normal starting eleven in this North West and District League derby game.
Paul will be delighted with how his team performed particularly full backs Jack McMullan and Stuart Moore who are both only 10-years-old, also 10-year-old goalkeeper Gareth Kealy who played the second half.

Conditions were perfect at Megaw Park in
Ballymoney and the pitch was in excellent condition on Saturday morning with both teams playing neat and tidy football.

Superior finishing power saw Beckett’s turn around at half-time with a very comfortable 8-0 lead.

Paul Gaston then used the second half to make several more changes including some positional and formation changes and indeed they added a further six goals without reply.

Young left full back Stuart Moore - a regular for Beckett’s all season - almost scored the goal of the season when he picked up the ball on the edge of his own penalty area and set off on a tremendous run, weaving past several Coleraine players in the process and ending with a thundering effort which grazed the post from 20 yards.

An excellent piece of skill from one so young.

Paul will also be delighted his side kept a clean sheet particularly with such a young defence.

The goal scorers for Beckett’s were: Lewis Greer (5), Chloe McCarron (4), Dessie Kearney (3), Stephen Johnston (2).

The referee of the game Mr Paddy McQuillan chose striker Lewis Greer as man of the match.

Special mention must go to the young Coleraine team who continued to try and play football right to the end.

Beckett’s would again like to thank all parents and supporters who came along to help and support the team on Saturday.

This Saturday sees Beckett’s travel away to face Coleraine Under 13s number two team at the Crescent, Coleraine with an 11am kick-off.
