“I welcome the opportunity to meet these dedicated volunteers today and learn about the different types of work they do,” she said.
The Minister also met with staff at the Community Rescue Service’s charity shop at Bridge Street in Coleraine, as part of a series of engagements in the area, which included a visit to Coleraine PSNI Station to meet with the Neighbourhood Policing Team, and she also met a local resident benefitting from the installation of call blocking equipment provided by Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) at Cloonavin.
Community Rescue Service is a member of the Northern Ireland Search and Rescue Practitioners Group, which is co-ordinated by the Department of Justice.
It is a regional voluntary organisation with units across Northern Ireland who responds to local, area, regional and national emergencies.
