Success for Loreto's Irish speaking pupils

It's been a successful time for Loreto College Irish-speaking students.

Year 12 student from Loreto College has been offered an exciting opportunity with Irish Language television channel TG4.

Eve Gardiner has gained the opportunity of part-time work doing TV voiceovers in Irish, and is currently working on TG4 wildlife series ‘Na Dúlraóiri’, which is a fast-paced wildlife show for 8-12 year olds made by Paper Owl Films.

Loreto College’s Head of Irish, Bean Ui Mhaolain, commented: ‘Aoibh’s natural skill set of Irish and Drama lend themselves naturally to the role. No doubt her star will continue to rise: maith thú a Aiobh!’

And Loreto’s Irish department are once again thrilled as a Year 10 team has been placed second in the regional heat of the annual Gael Linn Junior quiz.

The jubilant team of Dearbhla Bradley, Méabh Bryson, Michael McConnell and Corey Cassidy soared past over 400 other competitors to win second place in the regional heat of the competition. The quiz was followed up by an impromptu karaoke and a lively céilí with our own pupils participating enthusiastically! The Gael Linn hosts complemented Loreto’s pupils on their impeccable turnout and keen participation.

The Irish teachers, Bean Uí Mhaoláin, Mrs Simpson and Mrs Keenan are extremely proud of all participants and in particular Loreto’s prize winners, Dearbhla Ní Bhrolcháin, Méabh Ní Mhuireasáin, Micheál Mac Dhónaill and Corey Ó Caiside.
