North Antrim Assembly Member Mervyn Storey has welcomed news from the Ulster Community Investment Trust (UCIT) that £25,000 of loans has been invested into two local businesses in North Antrim.
During the last year UCIT has successfully managed the new £5million NI Small Business Loan Fund on behalf of Invest Northern Ireland. The loans range from £1,000 to £50,000, and are offered to existing and start-up businesses, which up to now, for whatever reasons, have been unable to access monies from their own banks.
Mervyn commented: “These figures are encouraging, and demonstrate how we are attempting to support indigenous enterprises to grow and prosper. I am convinced, however, that much more work can be done, and that many more local businesses should be making enquires to the Ulster Community Investment Trust to see if they too can avail of this worthwhile scheme.”
