DUP councillor Alan McLean has expressed his sincere thanks to everyone who voted for him.
In a statement to the Times, he said: “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all those who deemed me worthy of their first preference vote. May I also take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those voters who expressed confidence in me through their further preferences. These preferences proved vital in securing an additional seat for unionism in Ballymoney; highlighting the importance of unionist transfers.
“My thanks go to my wife Helen who acted as my election agent; sons Aaron,
Timothy, my father Victor, Frank McClure, Hugh Dean, Nat and Johnathan Storey, who assisted me during my election campaign. Most importantly, thanks goes to Almighty God for his strength and guidance during this campaign.
“As part of a strong DUP team on the new council I will endeavour to work hard for all the people of Ballymoney to ensue that we deliver the best public services at the lowest possible rates. Working together with the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses, our priority should be the further regeneration of Ballymoney town. The DUP has a strong track record in local politics and working together with our local MLA, Mervyn Storey, we are currently delivering a substantial upgrade to Magaw Park and a new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in the Glebeside. As a committed unionist and orangeman I will always promote and defend the symbols of the union, including the flying of the Union Flag 365/366 days per year at the council offices.
I look forward to working constructively with my fellow councillors in order to build a prosperous and vibrant area for all.
“If I can be of assistance to anyone, do not hesitate to contact me through the DUP office in Ballymoney or by my contact details which can be found on the council website.”
