A public appeal to raise funds to provide a bronze sculpture of a World War One Soldier at the Ballymoney Cenotaph has been launched by Ballymoney and District Cultural Heritage Society.
The appeal is supported by Ballymoney Borough Council and the Royal British Legion.
The estimated cost of the project is £30,000. It is hoped that the necessary funding can be raised and the sculpture can be completed and in place by Remembrance Day this year on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great War.
Donations to “WWI Sculpture Fund” can be made c/o The Office of the Chief Executive at Council HQ, Riada House.
Fundraising commences on Friday, June 27th with a Night At The Races at the Royal British Legion, followed by a Street Collection on Saturday 5th July. Other fundraising events and activities will be announced in due course.
