THIS year sees the 25th anniversary of the formation of local band Crown Defenders Flute Band from Cloughmills and with it the organisation of a range of events to celebrate this momentus occasion.
On Wednesday 1st August the band will be holding their annual parade and competition through the village. Over the years this parade has grew to be one of the largest in the province with bands attending from every corner of the province. The parade will get underway from the Drumadoon Road at 8.15pm. Leading the parade this year will be Constable Anderson Memorial Flute Band from Larne, the same band who lead our first parade 25 years ago. Trophies to be awarded in the usual categories after the hosts have closed the parade.
On Saturday 4th august to coincide with the 25th anniversary parade, there will be a kids fun day in the field behind Pattons Bar main street Cloughmills. We will have all sorts of entertainment laid on for the kids including a duck race, bouncy castles,face painitng,balloon modelling etc. There will also be a 5 – a side competition for the local bands to partake in. That night there will be a disco in Pattons bar with doors opening at 9pm.
To round off the year we will be holding a 25th Anniversary dinner dance in the Lodge Hotel Coleraine on Saturday 17th November. We are hoping all the current members,friends,family and ex-members of the band can join with us on the evening. More details about tickets etc. will be released closer to the time.
