The first 12 week programme of the Women Wise project is now complete and has been such a huge success!

The health and wellbeing programme culminated with a luxurious Spa day, receiving treatments and celebrating achievements.

The group of ladies were joined by the lovely Sarah Travers, who shared some empowering stories and inspired the group. Sarah is a well know face, as a TV and radio reporter and presenter, who has worked with both the BBC and UTV. The ladies were delighted and surprised by the local celebrity arriving and she received a very warm welcome! Sarah has worked with CAN before and has always been very supportive of our wee local charity. She made all the ladies feel at ease, and just joined in as one of the girls enjoying a glass of bubbly and a bit of banter!

Women Wise is a health and wellbeing programme, funded through Big Lottery Peoples Milllions, and facilitated by local charity CAN. The programme was open to ladies both with and without a learning disability in the Causeway area and provided an accessible health education programme, covering topics such as physical and mental health, cancer awareness and screening, and personal safety.

The 12 week programme has been a hugely successful, with up to 30 ladies from the local community taking part each week.

The next Women Wise programme is scheduled to take place in September, and is sure to be as successful and fun-packed as this one has proven to be. For more information, or if you are interested in joining Women Wise, contact Siobhan at CAN on 02827669030.
