The ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ road scheme in Ballycastle may be rolled out to other areas Transport NI have stated.

Responding to a question from Councillor Cara McShane at last week’s council meeting Divisional Manager, Deidre Mackle, said there is a possibility the scheme will be introduced to other areas once it is reviewed by Transport NI and the PSNI.

“The scheme is not long in operation however there is a view to extend it to other sites across Northern Ireland,” she said.

The 20mph zoning was introduced around the Whitehall and Leyland residential areas of Ballycastle in February.

This followed a proposal by Cllr McShane for Council to endorse the ‘Twenty’s Plenty’ campaign group in the town.
