TOPP Star of the North Pipe Band is branching out into competitions and to help raise funds a concert will be held in Ballymoney Town Hall on Friday April 8 (8pm).

The concert has an Ulster-Scots theme with artists including folk group ‘Crooked Jack’.

The group comprises of four members, Ian Burrows (Highland Bagpipes, Scottish Smallpipes, Border Pipes and Whistles); Mark Wilson (Percussion); Davy Muldrew (Vocals, Guitar) and Brian McAteer (Fiddle, Keyboards).

Members of the group have performed with renowned artists such as Phil Coulter, Peter Corry, Willie Drennan and the folk group Blackthorn.

Mark Wilson recently featured on the T.V. programme ‘Santer’ in which he traced Ulster-Scots roots and music in America.

The concert organisers are urging the public to come along for “traditional tea and plenty of craic”. Tickets cost £5, including supper, and they are available from The Ullans Centre, Ballymoney, or by phoning 07760652704.
