CHILDREN and families are invited to learn all about the fascinating story of local mythical legend Finn MacCool at a storytelling event, presented by Memphis based Babu Press.

Working in partnership with the Walled City Music Festival, the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre hosts ‘The Trouble with Giants’ on Saturday 6th June at 10.30am.

‘The Trouble with Giants’ is a brand new show for children, telling the familiar story of how the Giant’s Causeway came to be, told from some magical characters including a magpie, a fish and a frog! Children will also meet Finn MacCool, his clever wife Oonagh and arch-enemy Scottish Giant Benandonner. Each character and action - such as the fight between the giants - is represented by music.

Listen out for some well-known musical references, including Beethoven’s Ode to Joy and Mussorgsky’s Night on the Bare Mountain. The show features a narrator, accompanied by three musicians on flute, oboe and cello… who will introduce their instruments in a fun and friendly way.

Babu Press - based in Memphis, US - specialise in musical storytelling and have created this show especially for this year’s Walled City Music Festival, running from 4th – 7th June in Derry /Londonderry.

The Babu Press team includes Joseph Salvalaggio, Principal Oboist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Todd Berry, an acclaimed stage actor.

The Trouble with Giants is suitable for children aged 4 to 11 years and families are welcome. For further information, contact the centre on 02877760650 or visit roevalleyarts.com.
