North Antrim Assembly Member Mervyn Storey has called the decision by Roads Service to refuse the erection of a safety barrier at Whitepark Road as misguided.
Mervyn commented: “Roads Service has reviewed the need for the provision for this barrier. This concluded that based on there being no collisions over the last three years at this junction, and taking into consideration the traffic volume, there is no significant need for it.
“I am very disappointed at this decision. This is an extremely dangerous location, especially for those living on this particular stretch of road and who use this access. We should not have to wait until an accident takes place before preventative measures are taken.
“I have now taken this matter to the Roads Minister Danny Kennedy MLA and asked that he review this issue. .”
