North Antrim DUP MLA and former Chair of the Assembly Education Committee Mervyn Storey has congratulated local students who have received their A and AS Level results.

Commenting Mervyn Storey said: “Once again Northern Ireland students and those from the Ballymoney area have achieved excellent results as they outperform counterparts across the United Kingdom. These results are the first step on their future path in life, and even for those who may not have secured the results they hoped for there are many options ahead.

“The continued increase in Mathematics and popularity of other STEM subjects is very positive given the importance of these subjects in producing a workforce with the skills required by employers to grow our economy.

“Whether these exam results lead on to university, further education or the world of work, what is important now is that students look at the options which are available and choose the path that best suits them.

“To them all I say well done. I would also pay tribute to our teachers in our schools, who must share in congratulations. Their dedicated work and support has been invaluable in securing these results.”
