A second young driver event is being planned for Dalriada School, Ballymoney Road Safety committee have decided.
Last year’s event proved a big success and involved the PSNI and local firms with a stake in road safety.
The committee need more than £2000 to host the forthcoming event and are currently seeking grant aid.
It is anticipated that the top seven students at the event will be offered the opportunity on an IAM Advanced Driver Training course.
The committee are looking into the possibility of holding a future event at the University of Ulster.
It is hoped to hold a public speaking competition amongst local schools and to invite a guest panel of judges.
Last year’s initiative will be remembered for the input from Mr and Mrs Paul McCracken who lost their daughter, Shannon, a pupil at Dalriada, in a car crash just outside Ballymoney.
A trophy was presented in memory of Shannon, a popular and highly respected student, whose death greatly touched the community.
Mr. Sam Knox has been thanked for all his hard work in preparing for the second event at Dalriada.
