North Antrim Assembly Member Mervyn Storey has welcomed news from Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy MLA that his department will maintain eight of the ten car parks in Ballymoney as free parking zones.

The Department of Regional Development operates ten off-street car parks in Ballymoney, two of which are subject to charges – Church Street and Castle Street.

Mr Storey commented: “I have been lobbying Minister Kennedy on this issue and am happy he has seen sense to maintain the status-quo. The eight free car parks in Ballymoney collectively offer some 505 spaces. This equates to 84 per cent of all off-street spaces. This decision will continue to support commercial activity in the town and I strongly welcome it.”
