Rainey welcomes teen fiction writer

AS part of the celebrations for World Book Day, Year 8 pupils at Rainey Endowed were recently given the opportunity to meet teenage fiction writer, Ashley McCook. Pupils participated in a creative writing workshop led by the author.

Ashley not only shared some very useful writing tips, but also kept everyone engaged and on the move with her ‘sprinting’ literary quiz! Ashley, who lives on the North Coast, has written two books for teenagers, Demon’s Daughter and Demon’s Revenge.

The third book in the series, Demon’s Blood, is due out at the end of March. At lunchtime, Rainey pupils were treated to a reading by Ashley. Aspiring authors had the opportunity to ask questions relating to writing, editing and publishing a novel. The staff and pupils involved are grateful to Ashley for what proved to be a very entertaining and productive visit.
