Outrage at burglary of eleven caravans

Glens Sinn Fein Councillor Colum Thompson has slammed those responsible for the burglary of eleven caravans in a Glenariff caravan site on Wednesday night of last week.

Councillor Thompson said: “Those responsible are to be totally and utterly condemned. Items such as televisions, cameras and power tools have been stolen.

“A number of windows have been broken so that those responsible could gain access. This is a devastating blow to the owners of these caravans meaning major repair bills so close to Christmas. Many of the owners are elderly who come to Glenariff for peace and the tranquillity in The Glens and this has been a very upsetting incident for them. I would appeal to The PSNI to do everything they can to catch those responsible. If anyone has any information in relation to these burglaries then please contact Ballycastle PSNI.”

In a separate incident on Friday , a further five caravans were broken into and flat screen televisions stolen from a site on Clare Road, Ballycastle. A link between the two incidents is being probed.
