Public information sessions for the Village Renewal Measure of the Rural Development Programme will be held in the coming weeks throughout the North East Area.
This funding is targeted at the rural areas within the Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Larne and Moyle Districts. Sixteen Villages in the Region have completed Plans this year through the Rural Development Programme, these and other Villages who have already acquired Village Plans are encouraged to come along to the sessions or get in touch.
Village Renewal Facilitator Caroline Carey explained: “Funding has been made available under the Village Renewal Measure for up to 75% to assist with the Regeneration of Villages. The Village Renewal Measure will welcome preliminary applications from groups who have an eligible plan to implement a project or projects. With a deadline for preliminary applications for Year 2 of the programme set for the 4th of November 2011 it is important that interested parties have their queries answered. ”
For successful applicants grant assistance up to 75% for projects up to approx £62,500 is available to those who are deemed eligible and meet the criteria. It is anticipated that a decision on shortlisted Villages will be made by the New Year. Village Renewal Facilitator Caroline Carey and Village Renewal Project Officer Catrina McNeill will be on hand at the drop in sessions to answer any questions possible applicants for the funding may have.
The information sessions will be held from 7pm to 8.30pm as follows:
26th September 2011 Castlerock, Coleraine – Information Office
28th September 2011 Millbrook, Larne – Community Hall
3rd October 2011 Kells Community Centre, Ballymena – Community Hall
The Village Renewal Measure is being part funded under Axis 3&4 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 by the European Union and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
