A team of students from Northern Regional College will be heading to Barclays’ Head Offices in London to compete for the chance to be crowned winners of the national Champion of Champions competition, the final element of the Prepare for Work employability programme.
The team is one of five that have been shortlisted from across the UK to compete in the competition final which takes place on Friday 12 June 2015.
The team who will be attending are Lisa McDowell and Natasha Martin both Business & Administration students at the Ballymoney campus and twins
Stephanie Lennox and Jemma Lennox both studying Art & Design at the Ballymena campus.
During their trip to the capital, teams will have the opportunity to showcase the employability event which they developed and ran to help their fellow students develop their employability skills. The panel of Judges who will select the winning team includes Chris Hearn, Head of Education at Barclays and Sylvia Perrins, CEO of The National Skills Academy for Financial Services.
Student Enrichment Officer from Northern Regional College, Lesley-Anne Beacom said: “We are delighted that the team has got so far in this prestigious competition and I know that they are very excited about the prospect of attending the final in London. All of the College Champions that have been involved in the project have thoroughly enjoyed it and it is fantastic to see their hard work recognised. This is the first time that Northern Regional College has entered the competition and it is a real achievement to get so far. Competitions like these provide a great opportunity for our students to both develop and showcase their skills.”
