Glens Sinn Fein Councillor Colum Thompson has thanked Road Service for installing new warning signage on either side of Glenann Primary School in Cushendall.

Councillor Thompson and East Antrim Sinn Fein MLA Oliver Mc Mullan had held a site meeting with a Road Service representative back in December 2013 following concerns about speeding traffic passing the school.

Speaking about the new signs Councillor Thompson (pictured) said; “Getting these new signs is excellent news for the children, parents and staff of Glenann School.

“The volume of traffic on The Glenann Road has increased over the past few years and parents and teachers had raised concerns about road safety outside the school.

“Along with our local MLA Oliver Mc Mullan I held a site meeting with Road Service back in December and signs were one of the options which we suggested. The new signs are clearly visible and drivers who are unfamiliar with the road will now be well aware that they are approaching a school.

“I would like to thank Kevin Mullan from Road Service for that site meeting and also for installing the signs.”
