Neighbourhood police are on the ground

NEIGHBOURHOOD police officers are working in their designated areas for at least 80% of the time, latest figures show.

“We are committed to ensuring that Ballymoney officers are on duty serving their local community at every opportunity,” said PSNI Area Commander Brenda Cairns.

“New technology such as handheld Blackberry devices allows us to complete a number of functions while on the street or in a police vehicle which would previously only have been possible from within the Police Station.

“We are keen to provide a visible presence in the community which provides public reassurance and is more effective in prevention and detection of crime and anti-social behaviour.”
