The Arts are very much in evidence at Knockahollet Primary School with some very talented musicians and singers performing lately.

15 members of the school orchestra entered the Ballymena Festival recently with several of the pupils picking up a variety of awards for their individual and duet pieces.

The children deserve a lot of credit for the efforts they have put in practising their pieces to reach such high standards. Of course we can’t forget their parents who also deserve a big “well done” for supporting and encouraging their children.

The School Choir were also performing at The Belfast Waterfront Hall recently as they joined with other choirs from across Ireland to take part in The Peace Proms with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland. This was a fantastic experience for the children as they got to perform with Andrea Begley, winner of BBC’s The Voice in 2013.

Also taking part were the Ulster Scots Pipe Band along with uillean pipers, tap dancers, Irish dancers. So all in all, the two hour concert was a brilliant showcase for talent from across Ireland. Certainly the many parents, grandparents and friends who came along were hugely impressed and entertained by the whole event.
