The Patient and Client Council has been speaking to the Chief Executive of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and has been assured that each individual who uses the MS respite service at Dalriada hospital have had their needs assessed and alternative provision will be made.

In addition the Trust has advised they are undertaking a review of how best to provide intermediate or step down care.

The Patient and Client Council is concerned that individuals and their carers are worried about the longer term provision of respite care. This is a vital service not only for the patient but also for the carers.

Leaders in Health and Social Care must continue to talk to the people affected by these changes and work with them to arrange services to meet their needs.

If patients or their carers are concerned and would like support they can contact the Patient and Client Council on 0800 917 0222.
