THE Chair of Moyle District Council, Councillor Sandra Hunter, has expressed her sympathy to the family of the ten-year-old girl who died following a tragedy at a beach near Portballintrae on Sunday.
She said: “On behalf of all the councillors and staff of Moyle District Council I would like to offer our deepest sympathy to the family of this little girl. We are all shocked and saddened by this tragedy and would like them to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them.
“At this time we do not know the full circumstances around what exactly happened or what led to this terrible accident and await a full report.
Swimming and water-sports are a part of daily life on the North Coast and sadly this is not the first tragedy which has been experienced. However, it again serves to remind us all of the care that must be taken with regard to personal safety when swimming in the open sea.”
