Mayor writes to Mayor of New York to offer support over 9/11

BALLYMONEY Mayor has written to Mayor of New York to express his support and sympathy with the citizens as they commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

In his letter to Mayor Bloomberg, Cllr Ian Stevenson said: “I felt it important that I write to you at this time to express my support and sympathy with you and the citizens of New York, as you commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the innocent loss of life arising from this.

“On that date I was just outside Toronto and vividly recall the looks of horror and disbelief on the faces of those I was with.

“We in Northern Ireland fully appreciate the tragedy behind such loss of life, having suffered so much in our recent history.

“I hope you find the strength to get through this difficult time and my most earnest thoughts and prayers are with you and the people of New York as you both grieve and remember.”
