This Friday environmental experts from the Northern Ireland Marine Taskforce (NIMTF) will visit Ballycastle’s Marine Hotel to meet and engage with schools, community groups, businesses and political audiences on the Department for the Environment’s current consultation on proposed Marine Conservation Zones around Rathlin Island and Waterfoot.
The roadshow is open to the general public between 4-7pm; those attending will have the opportunity to hear from NIMTF unique insights into the marine life and wildlife around Rathlin Island and Waterfoot. Officials from the Department of the Environment will also be on hand to explain the current MCZ consultation process.
Speaking ahead of the Ballycastle roadshow, Rebecca Hunter Northern Ireland Marine Task Force Officer said: “Rathlin Island and Waterfoot are home to some of Europe’s most unique and important marine wildlife and we believe that Marine Conservation Zones provide a real opportunity to help the recovery of our valuable seas. We look forward to visiting Ballycastle on Friday and hope many people from across the community are able to join us.”
