WHEN some members of the family of the late Danny McTaggart from Rasharkin decided to take part in the Belfast Marathon, they asked the rest of their relatives if they would like to take part.
And the resounding answer was yes!
For a grand total of 35 members of Danny’s family took part in the Bank Holiday Monday marathon to raise funds for the Rehabilitation Unit of the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.
Raising more than £5,000, the family members gathered at Aghill Road in Rasharkin to present members of hospital staff with a cheque.
On behalf of the McTaggart family cirlce, Donal Martin told the Times: The funds raised were presented to the Causeway Hospital because the staff of the Rehabilitation Unit had been so good to Danny in his final illness.
“The total raised was in excess of £5,000 and the family would like to thank all who contributed to this magnificant total.
“In addition the family would like to acknowledge the generosity of Darragh’s Coaches who donated their fee to the charity and also McAtamney’s Butchers in Coleraine who provided meat for a buffet afterwards.”
