‘We will not be driven out’ say family in wake of third house attack
A FAMILY of five have vowed not to quit their home which was attacked for the third time in under two years at the weekend.
The McCook family on the Conagher Road, just outside Dervock, say they were wakened just after 2 a.m. by the sound of breaking glass.
They quickly discovered that the rear window of their car had been broken along with rear lights as well as the front window of their home.
The word ‘OUT’ in red paint was also daubed on the side wall of their semi-detached home.
The family who suffered a petrol bomb attack last year, say they have no idea why they have been targeted again, but insist they will not be moving.
“We have no idea why this is happening, but we want it to stop. We will not be intimidated by the thugs who carried out this attack. We heard a car moving away at speed and we think whoever did it clambered over a wall at the front of the house and also from the side,” Mrs. McCook said.
Mr. McCook is wheelchair bound after suffering a motorbike crash six years ago had to have the family car specially adapted to accommodate his disability.
“We now have to go through all the hassle of getting transport sorted out because of this,” he told the Times.
The family also have to appeal to the Housing Executive to repair the damage as soon as possible.
