Unemployment increases in Moyle and Ballymoney

THE number of people out of work in both Ballymoney and Moyle Council areas has increased.

Figures released this week by the Labour Market show that in January this year there were 1,124 people out of work in the Ballymoney Borough Council area and 771 unemployed people in the Moyle District Council area.

In Ballymoney, the jobless total is made up of 830 men and 294 females.

These figures represent an increase of 5% (or 54 people) compared with December 2012 and a rise of 6.8% (or 72 people) compared with January 2012.

Meanwhile in Moyle District Council area, the 771 jobless grouping is made up of 566 men and 205 women.

The latest figures represent an increase of 3.2% (or 24 people) compared with December 2012 and a huge 17.4% (or 114 people) compared with January 2012.
