Swann condemns pipe bomb incidents
ROBIN Swann, the North Antrim Ulster Unionist Party Assemblyman, has condemned as “senseless and a pathetic attempt to drag Northern Ireland back to its bloody past” the finding of two pipe bombs in Dervock.
Assemblyman Swann is also North Antrim UUP Chairman and Party Chief Whip. His condemnation came after two controlled explosions were carried out in Dervock following the discovery of the two suspicious packages.
Police described the packages as “crude but viable pipe bomb type devices”. A number of homes had to be evacuated after the packages were found at Castlewood and McArthur Avenue.
Mr Swann said: “This was a mindless attempt to drag our Province back to the bad old days. Thankfully, no one was injured in this deplorable incident.
“I also thank the security forces for their swift action in making the devices safe and I appeal to the community to give whatever information they can to the police about the people who planted these heinous devices,” said Assemblyman Swann.
