Swan song for turbine plans?

THE presence of whooper swans is one reason listed by planners who are minded to refuse plans for a wind turbine in the Vow area.

Planners are of the opinion to refuse 225kw wind turbine with a 50m hub height. The location is 290 metres North West of 10 Vow Road and the applicant is mr Richard Pollock.

Planners say, if permitted, the scheme is likely to have a detrimental impact on whooper swans in the local area.

And planners also said the proposal is contrary to a policy on renewable energy in that, the development would result in an unacceptable adverse impact on visual amenity and landscape character due to its size and scale is likely to have detrimental impact on residential amenity as a result of noise.
