Students set to meet President Clinton

FOUR County Antrim students will be awarded an All Ireland Scholarship toward their third level education next Saturday (17th November).

The awards ceremony will take place at University of Limerick where former US President Bill Clinton and sponsor JP McManus will present the awards.

This is the fifth year for the Scholarships. A total of 125 students from both North and South of Ireland will be presented with a third level scholarship certificate.

Sponsored by JP McManus, the scheme is set to provide financial assistance to many high achieving students who completed their Leaving Certificate or A Levels in 2012.

JP McManus has contributed 32 million euro to fund the provision of these scholarships each year and it is estimated that over 1,300 students from the 32 counties will benefit from the scheme over its duration. The awards are administered by the Department of Education & Skills in the South and Department of Education in Northern Ireland.

Winning students from County Antrim include: Samuel Stewart, Dalriada School, Queen’s University Belfast; Nicole Gibson, Northern Regional College, University of Ulster, Coleraine; Karen Cheung, Northern Regional College, Liverpool John Moores University; Jacob Armstrong, St Killian’s College, University of Oxford.
