Strawman and woman made this wedding an eyecatcher
HAY COMES THE BRIDE.....Now to some cynics...getting married is the last 'straw'. Well now it seems that they have proof to back up their claim. This superb creation of a 'Bride and Groom' was situated at St Patrick's Church of Ireland Armoy on Saturday prior to the wedding of Ian Henry. No doubt created by his friends. Lets hope that the couple' had a 'field' day and 'rounded' it off with a great night. Perhaps they danced to songs such as 'Hay Jude' or....'Hay Mr Tamberine Man'...or 'Round Round Baby Round Round' or 'Straw'berry Fields'....or 'The first 'Cut' Is The Deepest'...or 'I've Got a Brand New Combine Harvester'...Ok that's enough...Ed. MOST couples getting married nowadays will go to great lengths to ensure their wedding is something to remember.
Some of the more subtle changes include the serving of fish and chips as an evening ‘top up’ for guests and late arrivals while many think long and hard about the mode of transport.
Old buses, vintage cars, stretch limousines, horse drawn carriages, etc., have all been used, but recently the Times witnessed a huge American-style lorry playing a leading role in ferrying some of the bridal party to St. Patrick’s Parish Church in Armoy.
Getting in and out of the vehicle would have been a challenge in itself, but there was no doubting the eye-catching appeal of the lorry owned by the Smith family in Armoy.
But while the vehicle was one of the star attractions, there was no doubting the one what had everyone’s heads turning - large bales of straw dressed up as a bride and groom.
The artistic merit was commented on by many who couldn’t help but notice the ‘pair’ as they drove along the Glenshesk Road.
No doubt the couple involved were heartened by the best wishes from family and friends, but also at the time and effort put in to ensuring that the visual attractions made it an even more memorable occasion.
