Railway line closures for ‘essential works’

Translink is advising train passengers travelling between Ballymoney and Portrush that there will be a series of line closures in September to facilitate essential engineering works along the railway line.

The line between Coleraine and Portrush will also be closed for nine days between September 15 and 23rd with a bus substitution service in operation.

The line between Ballymoney and Coleraine will also be closed on Saturday 15th and 22nd and Sunday 16th and 23rd September with a bus substitution in place.

On both Sundays, there will be minor timetable variations on rail services between Belfast and Coleraine and passengers are advised to check in-station or call the Translink contact centre on 028 90 66 66 30 for details.

Frank Moore, Translink NI Railways Route Manager said: “More people are choosing the train as their preferred way to travel with a record 10.7million train journeys made last year across the NI Railways network. We have also taken delivery of all 20 new Class 4000 trains that will help to attract even more customers on board rail services.

“This engineering work is essential in order to maintain service levels and ensure passenger comfort and safety on this part of the network.

“We would advise passengers to leave extra time for their journeys and if they are travelling between Belfast & Coleraine during the Sunday closures to check temporary timetables that will be in operation.

“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and would ask for passengers’ patience and support as we work hard to deliver a better rail service for everyone,” said Frank.

Temporary timetable information will be available online and in-station. For further information click www.translink.co.uk or call 90 66 66 30.
