Power ... to the people

TRADERS have stepped in to provide power to ensure that one of Ballycastle’s main streets remains lit up with festive lighting this Christmas.

A Moyle Council report stated: ‘Up until last Christmas, Castle Street Christmas lights were powered from street lighting. Since then DRD Street Lighting have informed Council that it will no longer supply power using this method.

‘As such an agreement has been made through the Chamber of Commerce that a number of traders will allow their power supply to be used. It is proposed to use the Council electrician to complete the connections, with the Chamber (of Commerce) sharing the cost of powering the lights over Christmas’.
