New bilingual signs

NEW applications have been made to Moyle Council for English/Irish street signs.

Surveys have been carried out at Fair Hill and Tavnaghan Lane, Cushendall and Cushleake Road, Cushendun.

At Fair Hill there were seven respondents with 100 per cent of replies in favour for bilingual signs; at Tavnaghan Lane there were five responses and again all were in favour and at Cushleake Road, 80 per cent of ten replies wanted the signs.

The Council policy is that if more than two/thirds of respondents are in favour the sign bids move to the next stage.

The translations are: Fair Hill - Cnoc an Aonaigh; Tavnaghan Lane - Lana Thamhnachain; Cushleake Road - Bothar Chois Leice.
